So you guys know I am a huge supporter of black-owned businesses. Every year I create a list of black owned businesses to support. We have such strong buying power as a community. We have to support each other! Disclaimer: this is NOT an exhaustive list! There are SO many amazing black owned businesses to support out there. But on my little slice of the internet, I like to promote the ones I personally love. Here they are (in no particular order):
Cee Cee’s Closet
Head wraps are timeless. They’re versatile, stylish and the perfect “bad hair day” fix. What I love about Cee Cee’s Closet is that they not only make amazing wraps but part of the proceeds from each wrap goes back to support artisans who are handcrafting the products in Nigeria.

CLEANSE by Lauren Napier
Celebrity makeup artist & brown girl Lauren Napier produces a line of makeup removing and cleansing towelettes that are individually wrapped and perfect for the jetsetter. These are legit my go-to for travel and when I’m home. They lift makeup so well and they smell amazing.
Adwoa Beauty
A natural hair lifestyle brand catering to no-fuss curlies who want effective and easy to use products to complete their natural hair regimen. The founder is Julian Addo – curator of the groundbreaking BellaKinks event series out of Dallas, TX. On top of their beautiful imagery, I love the use of ingredients like baobab oil and peppermint.
beauty by Africa Miranda
One of my tried & true beauty staples since it launched, the beauty by Africa Miranda elixir works as a primer, a light oil moisturizer as well as a makeup remover. I love a good 3-in-1 product and a little goes a long way.

Black on Black BK
There are no shortage of t-shirt and sweatshirt brands with a message, but what I really love about Black on Black BK is how unapologetic the statements are. I also have a thing for black and white so I love that the designs stick to these colors. They’ve got really cute sweats, tees and tote bags and items come in kids sizes up to adults.

Mielle Organics
Boss mom Monique Rodriguez came out the gate with products that work and celebrity endorsers. I love how the brand has evolved over the years, and they work really well for Type 4 curls.
Pardon My Fro
Offering everything from stationary to shower curtains and now luggage – Pardon My Fro is an amazing design house that makes products featuring powerful women of color. Everyone should have a piece of PMF in their home.
Debra CartwrightOne of my favorite illustrators, Debra Cartwright creates beautiful watercolor masterpieces that feature diverse women of color. She now offers prints and other novelties.

EDEN BodyWorks
One of my all-time favorite beauty brands, EDEN BodyWorks has a plethora of great options for hair, body and skincare. Originally founded by Jasmine Lawrence at the tender age of 13, I just love what this brand represents. Their products are available at most major retailers.
Shop Nichole Lynel
Founded by fashionista and model Nichole Lynel, I love how super chic and fashion-forward this line is. If you like something, snatch it up quick! Her collections always sell out.
Happy Hair
Teaching young girls to love and accept their hair in various shapes and forms is so important to building confidence in them. The founder of Happy Hair, Mechal Roe, picked up on that by creating a line of children’s books, dolls and prints that support curl confidence. Great gift for the littles in your life.
heritage1933
Self-care is so important to your wellbeing and health. When it’s time to wind down at the end of a long week, I spring for heritage1933 items like the Ms Know It All whipped butter or their Exhale bath salts.
Healthy Roots Dolls
Healthy Roots is a toy company that creates dolls and storybooks that reinforce positive self-perceptions of the richly diverse, varying shades of complexion and natural hair textures among girls of color.

Hue Noir
Hue Noir is is a science + technology-driven makeup brand for women of color. I use their foundation daily. Their True Hues Flawless Foundation is formulated in a wide range of shades for brown girls like myself (I’m the Hazelnut shade), and it’s really buildable coverage which I love. I also love their lip glosses – they serve double duty as highlighters. The founder, Paula Hayes, is one of the only black women with a background in R&D and she owns her very own makeup lab in Portland. It’s pretty dope.
Alodia Haircare
Alodia Haircare was founded in 2014 by Dr Isfahan-Chambers, a doctor in bio-medical sciences. They deliver simple solutions customized to address unique hair needs. What I love is that they have “hair kits” for every hair type and condition. If you’re a thermal natural, or if you’re mostly a wash & go natural – they have a kit for you.
Jam + Rico*
If you’re looking for a small slice of island happiness in the form of costume jewelry, Jam + Rico is the brand for you. Bright, colorful pieces crafted with love.
LAMIK Beauty
LAMIK, an acronym for Love And Makeup In Kindness, is a Houston-based beauty brand with makeup for women of all shades. With an emphasis on catering to women of color, LAMIK has lippies, shadows and more with excellent color payoff crafted by founder Kim Roxie.
The Lip Bar
You guys hear me rave about this brand all the time because I genuinely LOVE their lipstick. Bawse Lady – their matte red – is arguably one of the best red matte liquid lippies in my beauty arsenal. I’m a lifelong fan.
LIT Brooklyn*
A home-based candle company with candles handpoured in Brooklyn, LIT Brooklyn exploded onto the scene less than 2 years ago and is slowly becoming a true household name. From the luxe gold packaging to the intoxicating scents, LIT should be on everyone’s holiday list.
The Crayon Case
You might love their products as much as you love their quick-witted and hilarious CEO SupaCent. Their flagship product – Box of Crayons – is specifically designed to add major pops of pigment to your eyelids. I love the story behind it as much as I love the packaging.

Harper Iman Dolls
Instead of your typical Barbie or American Girl dolls, support a doll maker that caters their designs to little brown girls of all complexions. Harper Iman dolls are custom made and you can request the hair, skin complexion and clothing of your choice for your favorite little one.

LLULO
I first fell in love with this brand years ago when their founder Michelle sent me one of her signature sweatshirts. They have since expanded to offer a plethora of products with her signature “Africa” silhouette design and ankara fabrics – from pillows to swimsuits and home decor.
Fe Noel
One of my absolute favorite high end lines, Fe Noel boasts a collection of sophisticated but incredibly artistic pieces for the modern fashionista. I think it’s the perfect mix of uptown sophistication and downtown edge.
Camille Rose Naturals
Founded by boss mom Janell Stephens, Camille Rose started as an all-natural line focused on textured hair and has over the years expanded into an overall lifestyle brand. They have a children’s line as well as a Body line and Home line as well. One of my faves from the collection is the Almond Jai Twisting Butter and the Curlaide. So good.
Rue 107
There are very few indie clothing lines that I get excited about anytime they come out with something new. Rue 107 is one of the select brands on my list of favorites that continues to innovate and provide dope designs for women of all shapes and sizes. Their items run in both straight and plus sizes, they cater to curves, and everything they make is super cute and super functional. This black dress above is a go-to staple that I own and love.
The Mane Choice
With a brand like The Mane Choice, you really can’t go wrong. They pop out new innovations everyday, they are backed by a team of the dopest brown girls on the planet and they create products that solve problems. I swear by their Soft As Can Be 3-in-1 conditioner. Also their Halo Hydration collection. Get you some – available at all major retailers and online.
Scotch Porter
Shopping for bae can be difficult. Make life a little easier and get him grooming products he’ll love. This brand of products for beard and for overall mens’ grooming smells yummy and will make him feel special.
SDOTBEAUTY
Ever since I tried these products out back in 2015, they have been on my go-to list of beauty staples. From their facial masks to the body oils and cleansing toners, SDOTBEAUTY has a little bit of everything for the best in all-natural skincare. They also have an incredible line of children’s products.
NRODA
If you’re looking for true STUNNA shades, like the type that make people stop you on the street and ask you where you got them, look no further than TNEMNRODA. The brand is literally “adornment” spelled backwards and that’s what their shades are – adornment for your face.
Mess In A Bottle
I love the black girl magic messaging behind Mess In A Bottle. They super cute tees, mugs and promotional items featuring empowering words for black girls doing big things. I also LOVE their army jacket that says “Queen, don’t be afraid to rule like a King”. Because yassss.

Bolden USA
Bolden is a skincare company for black and brown girls. They started with a small collection of 100% shea oils sourced from ethically-sourced Shea nuts picked and processed by local women’s groups in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Soon after, the owners of the company – Chinelo and Ndidi – expanded to include skincare products like cleansers, toners and serums. Bolden caters to the unique beauty of women.
Fanm Djanm
Fanm Djanm means “Strong Woman” in Haitian Kreyol. Founded by style influencer and creative Paola Mathe, I was following the girl and subsequently started following her brand. They seek inspiration from African and Asian cultures, and they celebrate women everywhere. Handmade with love in New York City.
Covered by God
There’s nothing more powerful than a daily reminder that God has you covered. The Covered by God brand has a dope set of tees and sweatshirts with powerful messages. My God > my enemies. Nothing truer. I have one of their sweatshirts and I LOVE it.

84 Gem
A collection of beautifully handcrafted statement necklaces, earrings and more. I love the materials she uses and how everything comes together so flawlessly. This is queen jewelry.
Beija Flor Naturals
I’ve been a fan of this company since they launched their first products almost a decade ago. With a focus on all natural ingredients and simple but effective formulations, they are definitely a line to try. Also, the owner also has a shop in San Francisco called Concept Fourty Seven with a collection of indie brands. If you’re ever in town, you should stop by.
